To Hospital

You show up at the hospital tired, but looking forward to visiting your friend and giving him the Oreos you’d managed to hold onto all day.  After signing in on the guest list, the nurse directs you to where he’s staying. You enter the room and the overwhelming scent of flatulence hits you like a bucket of cold water to the face.

“Was that you?” you ask him, without even saying hello.

Sean smiles and says, “Nope!” cheerfully.  He jerks his thumb in the direction of his roommate, an older gentleman who was snoring in the bed across the room.  “How was your day?” Sean asks.

You proceed to tell him all about your morning, how you saw the storm roll in, and how you got your wallet stolen from you on your commute.  He listens intently to the whole story, and when you finish, he smiles.

“But you still managed to come visit me?  Even though you have no wallet, and I’m a dirty bike-riding hipster from Brooklyn?”  He winks at you.  “Thank you,” he says, “Your assets far outweigh your liabilities, my friend.”
